The Home Based Contraception
Program
is a collaboration between
Women’s Health (Boulder Valley
Women’s Health Center) and Boulder
County Public Health’s GENESIS
Program.

 

Women’s Health is committed to
providing a full range of sexual and
reproductive health care services to
meet community needs. The center
offers specialized educational and
clinical services for free to all youth
under 20 years of age through its
multifaceted Youth Program. Women’s
Health proudly celebrates the Ten Year
Anniversary of Teen Clinic in 2005,
marking ten years of quality healthcare
services provided to over 5,000 teens.
 

The GENESIS Program is a component
of Boulder County Public Health.
GENESIS provides services to pregnant
and parenting teens with the goal of
promoting healthy parenting practices
within Boulder County’s teen parent
families, optimally impacting those
families for generations to come.
GENESIS has served over 3,500
families since its inception in September,
1989. GENESIS provides case
management services to Boulder
County’s teen parent population from
the time of conception until the child
reaches three years of age.

 

Bette J. Gifford is the Youth Services Director at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, New York. Her background is in Nursing and Nursing Education.

 

For the past seventeen years, she has been working in the field of child and adolescent
health, creating and implementing programs for youth and families. Program areas include primary care and behavioral health centers, child care programs for teen moms, specialized services for youth in the juvenile justice system, teen pregnancy and substance abuse prevention
initiatives, family strengthening and home visiting services, and the most recent oral health services for underserved youth and their families. She is currently working on a project for Infant Mental Health services.

 

Jo Lerberg, MPA, LMSW, from Des
Moines, IA is the State Teen Pregnancy
Prevention and Parenting, Family
Planning and Community Care
Program Manager for the Iowa
Department of Human Services (DHS).
During her 29 years with DHS she has
worked in the foster care, family
counseling, child abuse investigation
and treatment, training and child
welfare policy arenas.

 

Ms. Lerberg’s personal experience as a young single mother contributes to her commitment to provide services and create programs and policy that respect young parents and their children and encourage them to reach their potential. In 2004 FutureNet: Iowa’s Statewide Network for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Parenting, honored Ms. Lerberg by naming her the 2004 Champion for Children. In 2005, her son Aaron honored her with the title of Grandmother.
